On Saturday afternoon, just over a year after the first anniversary of the Abraham Accords between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, the wife of a diplomat in Dubai gave birth to the first Israeli to be born in the gulf state following normalization between the two countries.
In a post on social network LinkedIn, Israeli Consul-General Ilan Sztulman Starosta announced that his wife Jaqueline Starosta Lembert had given birth to a baby girl named Mia.

“Welcome to this world, Mia Sztulman Starosta Lembert, our new loved (already!!) daughter. Born yesterday afternoon in the beautiful city of Dubai – United Arab Emirates. The first Israeli baby born in the country since the Abraham Accords. What an honor,” he posted.
“Mia Stolman is the first Israeli baby born in Dubai! Congratulations to Ilan Stolman, head of the Israeli representation in Dubai and his wife Jackie! The entire Foreign Ministry raises a glass in your honor,” tweeted Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Sunday morning.
“A year of peace with the Emiratis, the first day for Mia,” tweeted the ministry’s Director-General Alon Ushpiz.
Mia’s birth came one day after the one year anniversary of the announcement of the deal, which was followed by further rapprochement with Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
On Thursday, Lapid announced that he had agreed with his Moroccan counterpart to upgrade diplomatic ties between the two countries, stating that within two months the two countries will open embassies, rather than liaison offices.
