Angelina Jolie, the Mail and Guardian and Amnesty International have collaborated for the launch of her book Know Your Rights (And Claim Them). The American actor, filmmaker and humanitarian co-wrote the book with Professor Geraldine Van Bueren QC with the aim of providing children with the knowledge they need to stand up for their rights and against the inequalities. This was a special project in collaboration
Millions of children are sidelined and grow up in societies that don’t recognise them as active members. The book brings together the stories of young people from around the world who are activists and are taking the lead to change our world.
In this collaboration Jolie interviews two young activists, South African Zulaikha Patel and Aisha Saleh from Nigeria on the M&G platforms about their activism, triumphs and making a stand. Today you can see the interview with Zulaikha Patel, tomorrow we’ll be adding the video of Aisha Saleh – check back then.
There are responsibilities where there are rights. Jolie and Van Bueren, through Know Your Rights (And Claim Them), have authored the book in the hopes of seeing a future where more children are able to defend their rights or the rights of others.
