Israel will require Palestinians to present a proof of vaccination pass – called the Green Pass – in order to work within the Green Line and in West Bank settlements starting November.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories said Wednesday that it was beginning a campaign to give Palestinians working in Israel and the settlements a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Both Palestinians already working in Israel and those seeking a work permit will be required to meet the Green Pass standard.

While Israel undertook a major vaccination drive for Palestinian workers last March, it had not required it until now as a condition to work inside the Green Line. Most of the Palestinians that have been vaccinated by Israel have gotten the Moderna vaccine.

The coordinator said Palestinians entering Israel for reasons other than work would also have to meet Green Pass requirements.

Israel’s new Green Pass, which went into force September 1, is only being issued to people who have received a third dose of the COVID vaccine, have had a second dose or recovered from COVID within the previous six months, or recovered from the coronavirus more than six months ago and have had at least one dose.
