Israeli army: suspect shot in attempted stabbing attack in West Bank

A Palestinian man was shot after attempting to stab an Israeli soldier at the Gush Etzion Junction in the West Bank, the military’s Spokesperson’s Unit said Monday.

The Palestinian exited his vehicle, armed with a knife, and attempted to stab the soldier. The soldier then shot his attacker, according to the military.

The Palestinian media said that the assailant, who they identified as Falah Jaradat, of the village of Si’ir north of Hebron, died of his wounds. Jaradat had East Jerusalem residency.

There were no casualties among the Israeli soldiers. The military is now trying to track down the Palestinian’s car.
