A Palestinian was killed by Israeli fire on Wednesday during clashes at Joseph’s Tomb in the city of Nablus in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency, reported that the clashes erupted when Jewish worshipers, escorted by the military, arrived at the tomb on the outskirts of the city to pray.
The Health Ministry identified him as 16-year-old Riat Rafik Amin, who was taken to the Rafidia Surgical Hospital in Nablus, where he was declared dead.
Additionally, the Red Crescent reported around 40 wounded in clashes in the area of the tomb as well as in the village of Urif nearby. Four were injured by sponge-tipped bullets and the rest from gas inhalation. According to Palestinian reports, a Palestinian vehicle was set on fire during the clashes.
On Saturday, 17-year-old Amjad al-Fayyed was killed during clashes in the West Bank city of Jenin. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group described the teen as one of its members and said he had taken part in the fighting against the Israeli soldiers.
