“I am honored to announce that I will be arriving in Tel Aviv today to begin my post,” Jalahman tweeted.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry’s director-general, Alon Ushpiz, said on Twitter: “We are looking forward to what will no doubt be a very productive tenure, advancing relations between our two countries.”

Jalahma was previously director of the operations directorate at Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry and had also served as deputy chief of mission at the kingdom’s embassy in the United States.

Earlier this month, Bahrain’s undersecretary of political affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed al-Khalifa, met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in Jerusalem.

During the meeting, al-Khalifa accused Iran of being the line that runs through all the crises in the countries of the Middle East.

Bahrain and Israel normalized relations in September 2020. Al-Khalifa said that Bahrain plans a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the normalization agreement, dubbed the Abraham Accords, which also included deals with the United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Sudan.
