The Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway was blocked on Tuesday after a truck had crushed into a bridge in near Ben-Gurion International Airport.
The truck, which was carrying a tractor, crashed into an access bridge above Route 1 that leads to the airport.
Netivei Israel, the national transport infrastructure company, estimates it would take three to six hours for the obstruction causing the congestion to be cleared.
Police blocked Route 1 at its western section.
