Sirens will sound on Wednesday in several cities across Israel as part of the National Home Front Exercise.

Between 10 A.M. and 11 A.M sirens will be activated in a few cities in the north as well as in towns near Be’er Sheva in the south. Between 6 P.M. and 7 P.M. sirens will sound in the Jerusalem area, as well as in Ashkelon, Rishon Letzion, Ramat Gan, Herzliya, Netanya and Hadera.

Alerts will also be aired on television and radio, in the Home Front Command mobile application and in the National Emergency Portal. The IDF Spokesperson unit said that in the case of a real emergency, another siren will blare.

The five-day National Home Front Exercise began on Sunday simulates a scenario where Israel has to deal with fighting on multiple fronts, including from within the country.

As part of the lessons of the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip in May, in which the security establishment was surprised by the intensity of clashes and civil unrest in Israeli cities, particularly mixed and Arab localities, the drill began with a simulation of clashes in Israeli cities.

Estimations are that during the next round of fighting, Israel is expected to be under a widespread missile attack. While most of the missiles will target the north, Israel’s center will also be significantly attacked during the early days of combat. “We will jointly exercise evacuation and intake of the population, extended stays in protected spaces due to the volume of fire,” said Home Front Command Chief of Staff Brig.
